When an innovative idea becomes a concrete project for the company

The Michelin case study

Learn how Michelin solved a real-world problem by proposing project work at the CIM4.0 Academy and achieving concrete, company-applicable solutions. A challenge aimed at significantly reducing inefficiencies due to the presence of contaminants in tire compounds.

CIM4.0 Academy

CIM4.0 Academy is a path dedicated to managers and technical figures from large, medium and small companies, freelancers and resources in the outplacement phase. It is an immersive experience structured in 350 part-time hours to acquire hard and soft transversal skills on technologies and methodologies enabling Industry 4.0. A training course to support decision makers to manage the digital transition in the company.
At the end, participants will be able to translate the acquired knowledge into action skills thanks to the project work carried out on a real case. The 6th edition starts in September.

The challenge

DETECTION OF FOREIGN MATERIAL POLLUTION IN COMPOUND

In the context of the compound production line at the Michelin plant in Cuneo, Italy, we asked participants to propose an automated solution to search for foreign contaminants within the “compound band,” before
it leaves the line to move on to subsequent processing.
The goal is to significantly reduce inefficiencies due to the presence of contaminants.
