Since 1989 Head of Dept. Future Mobility and Europe for the Institute for Innovation and Technology (VDI/VDE Innovation + Technik GmbH) which supports the technical developments for mobility solutions of the future with countless programmatic and strategic activities (application scenarios in electric mobility as well as with autonomous and interconnected driving) and develops new forms of European cooperation. Since 2010 Wolfgang Gessner is Head of Dept. Future Technologies and Europe managing governmental R&D programmes in the transports sector, too and Director of the European Technology Platform on Smart Systems Integration – EPoSS.
