The Ministry of Economic Development has announced the national short list identifying the national aggregations that will become part of the European network of Digital Innovation Poles – EDIH, following the European Commission’s final approval next April. The European Digital Innovation Poles project is part of the Digital Europe Program, the digitization initiative to which the European Commission has allocated 7.5 billion euros in the 2021-2017 multi-year budget

The selected projects include all proposals in which a national Center of Competence participates, often as the lead partner. The network of Italy’s 8 Centers of Competence is now a solid reality that crosses the country from North to South and is a point of reference for national companies, dealing with training, technology transfer in the 4.0 sphere and the management of calls for innovation projects with high digital maturity.

The outcome of the pre-selection also confirms that the model of aggregation in innovation and digitization 4.0 represented by Centers of Competence not only works but also represents an example that can be replicated from a European perspective.

In collaboration with Confindustria’s Digital Innovation Hub network, the network of Competence Centers is therefore set to take the big step in Europe, aggregating the best territorial competencies to become an international reference point in technology and be the driving force for the industrial transformation of the Country System in the coming years. As of today, preparation begins for the restricted European tender to participate in the network of digital innovation hubs (EDIH): for the 8 Centers of Competence this is an additional stimulus to improve capabilities, projects and achievements and to configure themselves as an indispensable reference point for technological innovation for the benefit of the entire Country System.
