Digital trasformation

The CIM4.0 Academy is the training course of CIM4.0 which is aimed at managers of the technical area and managers of business divisions with the aim of training figures capable of leading and managing digital transformation.

The training considers the following main activities: an initial phase where a multidisciplinary approach to the ecosystem context is transmitted to the participants, the GAP-Recovery phase (or elimination of the technological skills gap) and the systemic skills development phase and Project Work that will be the opportunity to put into practice the skills acquired by solving real problems proposed by companies.

Educational goals

Training in cross discipline skills on technologies and operational models enabled by them. Implementing the skills, through real business challenges, in the ability to direct, guide and manage the digital transformation and the related reengineering of the processes of companies operating in different industrial and manufacturing sectors.

Access mode

The advanced training course, which involves all workers, including those who today need to relocate, provides for a fee to cover the living costs of managing and providing courses. CIM4.0 supports SMEs by covering 50% of the cost of enrolling employees in the second edition.

Who enters the CIM4.0 Academy

Technical area managers and business division managers: employees, freelancers and resources in the redeployment phase.

Who leaves the CIM4.0 Academy

Professionals capable of directing, guiding and managing the digital transformation and the related reengineering of the processes of companies operating in various industrial and manufacturing sectors.

Structure of the training course

  • Step 1 Welcome & assessment | 8 hours
  • Step 2 Multidisciplinary approach to the ecosystem context | 24 hours
  • Step 3 I4.0 Tech. Gap Recovery | 160 hours
  • Step 4 Systemic skills development and project works | 150 hours
  • Step 5 Final assessment | 8 hours

Most of the trainers come from the consortium companies and partners of CIM4.0 and from the two Universities (Politecnico and University of Turin) and are professionals of international importance who have chosen to share their knowledge with the participants of the Academy, with the aim of upskilling and reskilling. For managerial skills, we make use of the contribution of Skillab, the company of Unione Industriale Torino and AMMA that has years of experience on the subject.

Course program

The program alternates moments of practical training with moments of sharing knowledge.

Introduction to training, presentation pedagogical modalities, and collective meeting with tutors and mentors.

Self-assessment: through a questionnaire, participants will help identify the degree of competence in specific technological and management areas.

Individual assessment: an initial assessment and support meeting will be held for each participant aimed at guiding the performance of transformation and implementation of knowledge. Through an individual interview, CIM proceeds to understand the characteristics of the participant and the operational context in which he is inserted, to evaluate obstacles, opportunities, and individual characteristics. Performance is assessed on the basis of specific KPIs.

System Thinking

Holistic approach for understanding complex systems.

Analysis of the relationships between the parts of a system in an ecosystem-based value network context. Evaluation of the implications of the succession of events. Identification of interdependencies, interfaces and different flows that generate value. Role analysis of processes in achieving system equilibrium.

Data Science

IoT, AI, Network Science and complex systems, Data Economy, Data mining strategy and Data visualization, adv machine learning implications.

Enabling Technologies I 4.0 Digital Twin, Ar / Vr, 5G

Evolution of experimental activities on products and predictive on processes with impacts for the design, production and life cycle management; management of simulations using virtual and real information to increase the efficiency of production processes; introduction to the implications of new data traffic standards for design, product marketing and industrial processes.

Additive Manufacturing

Additive Manufacturing for materials, new processes, Integration with existing processes, design challenges for processes with AM, evolution of the value chain.

Blockchain, impact of GDPR compliance on production processes, embedded security-security by design, impact of cybersecurity practices on business and evolution of legislation.

Predictive Maintenance

PM evolution with AI and Machine learning & Maintenance 4.0 for sustainable manufacturing

World class manufacturing

Evolution of the WCM based on the principles of I4.0

Agile, Lean Management

Evolution of consolidated approaches and new business management processes induced by digital disruption, business process management, DevOps, Desi¬gnOps, effective use of management tools for team coordination and obtaining results.

Platform Design And Management

In connection with Data Science and Enabling Technologies modules, input on the functioning of multisided platforms, complementor role and new actors.

Problem Solving, Design Thinking

Exploration of creative methodologies to increase alternative solutions to problems in the context of high uncertainty, emotional intelligence, self-consciousness, engagement generation new forms of leadership.

In-Depth Legislation Evolution

Introduction to the implications of new regulations relating to the application of enabling technologies and business impact.

Collective project

Development of collective projects, one for each subgroup of max 5 participants each, to address a concrete problem in the company and propose solutions that derive from the transversal skills acquired and used in the group. The activity involves the supervision of a company mentor and the creation of an end of project report for each subgroup.

Final Assessments

After having passed the tests provided for each module, the participant will obtain a diploma / certificate, and will be involved in a second stage of individual assessment. During this second meeting, the graduate will receive a list of guidelines in order to contextualize the application of the acquired knowledge. The goal is to maximize the transformation of knowledge so that the graduate consciously contributes to the creation of value in the business context.

After 6 months, the graduate meets the tutor again to evaluate the performance achieved in implementing acquired knowledge and applying guidelines based on the initial KPIs and the potential contribution to the creation of strategic assets. CIM4.0 provides an additional set of guidelines to be able to continue the path of effective knowledge transformation and contribution to the creation of value.

Master’s degree

At the end participants will receive a certificate from Scuola Master and from the CIM4.0 which certifies the skills acquired.

CIM4.0 Academy is a high-level training course designed and implemented in collaboration with the Master’s and Permanent Training School of the Politecnico di Torino.
