At the PRIA_I4.0 call for over 3 million euros published by CIM 4.0 to fund applied research projects related to Industry 4.0, 108 proposals were received from all over Italy involving 162 Italian companies. Eighty projects with high innovation potential were positively evaluated and selected, but only the first 17 of these will get funding.

The winning projects

Seventeen winning projects through which companies will develop their Industry 4.0 technologies aimed at production process optimization, product improvement and innovation, business and organizational model innovation and increase the global competitiveness of the Italian industrial ecosystem.

The winning projects, the result of partnership work by 36 companies, are focused as follows: 3 on Additive Manufacturing, 2 on applications of artificial intelligence techniques to make production processes more efficient, 7 on IoT and Big Data, and 5 related to new products and production processes.

CIM4.0’s goal hit.

With the allocation of the funds covered by this latest call for funds amounting to 3 million euros, CIM 4.0 has achieved, a little more than a year after its founding, a first important goal: to finalize all the resources made available by the MISE for Enterprises, according to a strong support for innovation, technology transfer and the important collaboration between large companies, micro-small and medium-sized enterprises and innovative start-ups.

The scientific and industrial evaluation of the projects also took into account their innovative impact on the territories, both from the point of view of creating new jobs and in terms of economic development.

This second call for proposals,” explains CIM 4.0 CEO Enrico Pisino, “has highlighted the great innovative ferment present in our country, and we are very pleased to be able to contribute concretely and promptly to the technology transfer activities of the winning Italian companies. But at the same time we were forced to exclude from funding many valid projects that would have further enriched the index of innovation and contributed to the economic development of the Italian territory. It is necessary and urgent to increase the funds available to meet a real need of the Italian industry that has well understood how 4.0 can be a decisive strategic lever to react to the crisis and return to compete. As CIM 4.0 we will commit ourselves in the immediate future to intercept national and regional resources still available in order to increase the economic impact of this call for proposals and finance the other very valid projects selected.
